A parish council is a local authority that makes decisions on behalf of the people in the parish. It is the level government closest to the community, with the district authority (Calderdale MBC) above it in the hierarchy.

As it is the authority closest to the people, parish councils are invariably the first place people will go with concerns or ideas. For this reason they are a vital part of any community.

The aim of Vincent de Paul Society is Jesus Christ's principle of 'if you did it to one of the least of the members of my family you did it to me'.

The Vincent de Paul Society was started by the mason's associations on April 28, 1996. Vincent de Paul Society's Services are to select seven poor families and give food, accommodation and medical allowance.

1. To visit the families regularly.
2. To visit the patients in family and hospital.
3. To encourage family prayers.

The children with lots of enthusiasm serve at the Alter who are being formed and molded to be a better Christians, are given lots of opportunities to get into the different Pius associations and movements, as they move out from it when they grow bigger.

It is a nurturing garden and few find their vocation to priesthood or religious life. The children also become exemplary and mold to become the future leaders with commitment and full of faith in Gospel values.

The Legion of Mary is a worldwide organization of Catholic men and women who offer their services to their pastor to aid him in performing spiritual works of mercy in th eparish. The aim of the legion is to increase personal holiness of its memners through the imitation of the virtues of Mary. It was founded in Dublin, Irealan in 1921 by Frank Duff. Our praesidium at St. Dominic Church was started 34 years ago and has continued by loyal parishioners.

The Handbook, the official guide found in the hands of every active Legionary, is followed by all. The Legion does not requie persons of talent but rather persons with generous and willing hearts. A meeting is held every wing consisting about an hour and a half. It is a mixture of devotion and discussions of the work done. Then assignments are given for the next week.

Some of the works done are visiting the sick and aged in nursing homes and in their own homes. Reciting the Rosary at various nursing homes, console the sick, and encourage non-practicing Catholicsto return to the Church.

You can be an auxiliary member, which is very important, by praying the Rosary and reading the "Tessera" each day.

The Sunday Catechism for the school going children play an important role and it is gratifying to know that the parents contribute and support for improving the quality of it. The committed teachers that include both religious and laity are the back bones for it and the team effort really bring in lots of benefits to the children and ultimately in building a better church for tomorrow.

The musical legacy of the Church is a priceless spiritual, artistic, and cultural heritage. We are attempting to follow the wishes of the Church by presenting beautiful Sacred Music in the context of the Sacred Liturgy for which it was composed. We are thankful for the dedicated members of our parish who serve in our choirs at Cathedral, bringing beautiful music to our church.

The Choir provides music for the cathedral Mass 0n Sundays, holy days and other liturgical services throughout the year. Parishioners are invited to share their musical talents with the rest of the congregation through this ministry. The only requirements are a love of the Lord and a willingness to express this love through song. No formal music training is required. Choir practice is held on Sunday, 11.00 AM, at the Church.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.
